The Och’Idoma of Idoma land, His Royal Majesty, Dr. John Elaigwu Odogbo has said that the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN has proved that he really cares about the safety of the entire Idoma land.
The Idoma paramount ruler made this statement yesterday when the former Chief Law Officer of the Federation paid him a solidarity visit after the killing of some farmers in Otukpo-Nobi Community.
The Och’Idoma stated that Chief Aondoakaa’s decision to personally visit the affected communities and the palace reflected his concern for the people of Idoma land.
His words: “I am consoled by your visit. That you heard about this incident and left everything to be physically here shows how much this means to you”
Also showing appreciation to Chief Aondoakaa for his show of solidarity to the affected community, Elder James Okoh who represented the community thanked the PDP candidate for identifying with the people in their moment of grief.
He said the community was deeply consoled by Aondoakaa’s visit and concern, noting that his presence demonstrated genuine empathy for the victims and their families.
In his speech, Chief Aondoakaa who was received by community leaders and residents, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, describing the attack as a collective pain that should concern every Benue citizen.
Addressing the grieving community, the PDP governorship candidate said no society should watch its people being killed without seeking justice and accountability.
“We cannot shy away from confronting our challenges. I’m here to see you because I share your pains. This attack is an attack on all of us. We can’t abandon our people to be slaughtered like animals in our own land,” he said.
Chief Aondoakaa appealed to the Federal Government to launch a comprehensive investigation into the attack as well as the recent killing of a Miyetti Allah leader, insisting that Nigerians deserve to know the truth about the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
He disclosed that before embarking on the visit, he had spoken with the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, who represents Benue South in the Senate, to express his sympathy over the tragic incident.
During the meeting, Aondoakaa said he was visiting not as a political candidate but as a son and in-law of Benue South who was deeply saddened by the loss of lives.
“Your Royal Majesty, I’m here today not as a PDP candidate but as a son and in-law of Zone C who is saddened by the unfortunate incident of the attack on our people a few days ago” he said.
