The All Progressive Congress Youth Vanguard has accused the National Working Committee of the ruling party of a plan to present the name of the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Barrister Pius Akutah as the governorship candidate of the party in Benue state.
The group in a broadcast by its Secretary, Ms Celestina Adoke, Esq in Abuja today stated that it’s a plot to stop Governor Hyacinth Alia from exercising his rights to seek reelection as governor of the State in 2027.
According to the advocacy group a fake report is being prepared on the instruction of the National Chairman of the party, Professor Nentawe Yilwadta to deceive the public that Mr. Akutah appeared before the party’s Screening Committee which screened and cleared Governor Hyacinth Alia, Kuraun Isaac and Hon. Terwase Orbunde for the primaries.
The group noted that it’s only the three aspirants that were screened and cleared by the screening Committee sent from Abuja during the Screening exercise while Akutah failed to appear before the committee.
The group warned that any attempt by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume to force Akutah who didn’t appear before the screening Committee and who also didn’t participate in the primaries on the party as its gubernatorial candidate will not only cause troubles but will also lead the party into serious litigations that will ensure its failure at the general elections.
The group also recalled that Akutah has erred by failing to resign at the stipulated time given by President Bola Tinubu to his appointees seeking elective positions in 2027.
According to the group, the same Akutah who is attending an International Maritime Conference in London presently has still not resigned his federal appointment.
It added that any attempt to forge a screening Committee report to deceive the public that Akutah was part of the screening exercise which he never attended will spell doom for the ruling party..
The group in the broadcast advised President Bola Tinubu to caution the APC national chairman and the entire National Working Committee to stop the illegality which they want to force on the party in Benue state, stressing that such will be fought to standstill.
