APC Youth Vanguard has called on the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume to immediately obey an order by Vice President Kassim Shetima that he should go and reconcile with Governor Hyacinth Alia for the ruling party to move forward in Benue state.
The group which spoke in a press statement signed by its president, Mr Jonah Michael also urged the SGF to resign from his position in Abuja and contest for the seat of a Ward chairman if he has interest in local politics.
Speaking further, the group accused the SGF of sensitizing Benue youths against Governor Alia as a result of the leadership tussle between them.
The group urged Senator George Akume to stop misleading the youths as its clear that the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress isn’t in support of the faction of the party which is illegally headed by Comrade Austin Agada.
According to the group, the Vice President was clear in his statement when he urged the SGF to look for peace between him and state governor as the party is entering into the 2027 general elections.
The group however commended the APC National Working Committee led by Professor Nentawe Yilwadta for their supports and also for sending men of proven integrity to conduct the last Ward, local government and state congresses in Benue state.
In a related development, the State Congress Appeal Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has today, formally affirmed the peaceful and orderly conduct of the party’s State Congress in Benue State.
The Committee, chaired by Dr. Mustapha Lawal Malumfashi, confirmed that it received no petitions or appeals from aspirants or party members concerning the outcome of the Congress, thereby validating the credibility and transparency of the exercise, stating that the elections were conducted in line with party guidelines and that the elected officials were duly inaugurated.
They commended the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, as well as party leaders, stakeholders, and elders for fostering an atmosphere of unity and cooperation that ensured a smooth process.
The State Congress Appeal Committee congratulated the newly elected State Executive Committee led by Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale and urged the leadership to work collaboratively to strengthen grassroots mobilization ahead of future electoral engagements.
Responding, Chief Dr. Omale expressed appreciation to the Appeal Committee for its diligence and pledged that the new Executive Committee would work assiduously to consolidate party unity and advance the collective interests of the APC in Benue State.
Dr. Omale also expressed appreciation to the APC National Working Committee, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, party stakeholders, elders, and members for the confidence reposed in the new leadership, assuring that the Executive Committee would take the party to greater heights.
