Nigerian Concord Newspaper
This newspaper can authoritatively report secret plots by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the Senate President, Senator Godswil Akpabio and the National chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwadta to influence the ongoing court cases which were instituted as a result of the illegal substitution of the party’s National Assembly candidates in some states.
The trio have also been accused of trying to influence the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to change its testimonies in various courts even after the Commission had said that its officials in conjunction with security agencies monitored all the primaries where those whose names were removed by the APC National Working Committee across the country won.
Recall that INEC had testified in various courts where the cases are being heard that those whose names were substituted are the rightful winners of the All Progressive Congress National Assembly primaries across the country.
According to findings, this plot by Akume and Akpabio is against constant warnings by President Bola Tinubu that no one should interfere with the ongoing cases so as not to compound problems for the party after next year’s general elections.
It was gathered that the President has severally invited the trio of Akume, Akpabio and Yilwadta to private meetings in Abuja where he warned them against their plans to influence the court cases in all the affected states.
The president was quoted as saying that his administration would not interfere with the works of the Judiciary so that there can be a level playing ground in all their rulings.
Recall that the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress had illegally substituted names of the National Assembly candidates who genuinely won the last primaries with names of some serving National Assembly members who either didn’t participate in the primaries or lost as a result of their poor representation since they got to the National Assembly in 2023.
According to sources, the President specifically warned the SGF and the Senate President as well as the APC National Chairman against the cases of Ondo, Benue and Delta states, stressing that it would be difficult to make the INEC change its testimonies which already favored those whose names were substituted by the National Working Committee.
Apart from multiple senatorial cases in various courts across the country, instances of House of Representatives cases that the president warned against are the ones of Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in Ondo State between the incumbent, Timilehin Adelegbe and Rotimi Arobo, Konshisha/Vandekya federal constituency between the incumbent, Sesoo Gboko and Dr. Livinus Tsar, Makurdi/Guma federal constituency between Dickson Tarkighir and Engr. Christopher Ikper, Buruku between Sekav Ioryom and Hon. Gideon Inyom and many others like that.
It was also gathered that the SGF, Senate President and Professor Nentawe Yilwadta, according to Judiciary sources have been threatening the Chief judge of the Federal Capital Territory, Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho that they would remove him from office if he fails to mount pressures on the judges handling the cases to rule in their favour.
This Newspaper learnt that Justice Tsoho has been facing serious heat in the hands of Akume and Akpabio since yesterday that an Appeal Court in Abuja ruled against Timilehin Adelegbe in the case of Owo/Ose Federal Constituency
Recall that the winner of yesterday’s case, Barrister Rotimi Arobo legitimately won the primaries in May against the incumbent, Timilehin Adelegbe. The primaries were monitored by officials of the APC, representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission as well as security agencies.
Meanwhile, the Jechira APC Youths Forum led by Comrade Joshua Tivkaa has called on President Bola Tinubu to quickly wade into the issue of Konshisha/Vandekya Federal Constituency where the name of the winner , Dr. Livinus Tsar who won the primaries which were monitored by APC officials from Abuja, INEC Representatives and security agents with 28,549 was illegally substituted with the name of the incumbent, Hon. Sesoo Gboko who got just 693 votes.
The group wondered why Senator George Akume who is a leader would be hell bent on forcing the INEC to change its testimonies in a case which is as clear as that of Jechira Federal Constituency where Dr. Tsar got 28,549 votes against Sesoo Gboko who got 693 votes.
