On a beautiful Sunday morning, December 29, 2024, the Living Faith Church in GRA, Otukpo, opened its doors to a congregation filled with joy and gratitude as they gathered for the 25th Wedding Anniversary Thanksgiving in honour of Their Excellencies Barr. Dr. Sam Ode, mni, Deputy Governor of Benue State, and his beloved wife, Chief Mrs. Christie Sam-Ode, JP. The Church, filled with family, friends, and political associates from far and near, bore witness to an event that celebrated not just a milestone but a testament to enduring love and faith.
Standing on the same sacred sanctuary where they exchanged vows a quarter of a century ago, Dr. Ode expressed immense gratitude to God for the blessings and mercies showered upon their union. With heartfelt words, he reflected on their journey together, proclaiming, “In the course of this journey, God has elevated us from one position to another,” urging the congregation to be steadfast in their faith, emphasising that all blessings flow from God.
Resident Pastor of the Church, Olukayode Gold, while delivering an inspiring sermon on “Understanding how to facilitate the fulfilment of Prophecy,” reminded the congregation of the transformative power of divine promise. Referencing 1 Timothy 1:18, he encouraged everyone, especially the celebrants, to hold their faith closely, asserting that God’s plans are for prosperity and overflowing mercy for those who diligently seek Him.
As the service concluded, the celebrations continued with a solemn homage at the palace of the paramount ruler of the Idoma nation. Their Excellencies, accompanied by family and friends, approached His Royal Majesty Agabaidu Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John, CON, in a show of respect for the traditional institution.
The deputy governor who joined the Och’Idoma at the Palace Chapel venerated His Royal Majesty, describing him as “a frontline king in this land.”
In a spirit of unity, the paramount ruler offered prayers and royal blessings upon the celebrants and all present, solidifying the communal bond of respect and celebration.
The day culminated in a grand reception at the deputy governor’s residence, where stories of inspiration and love were shared. Friends and well-wishers took to the podium to celebrate the couple’s remarkable journey, pouring forth commendations that echoed their love and respect. This anniversary was not just a celebration of a marriage but a reaffirmation of the power of faith, love, and community.
