Barely a week that the governor of Benue state, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia was accused of wasting N46B tax payers money on frivolities, a popular journalist with Arise TV, Rufai Oseni has come out with another accusation of how the governor had spent yet another N34.4B to celebrate special days.
According to Rufai Oseni in a detailed report he posted on his verified social media platforms yesterday, part of the N36B was also spent to buy stationeries for government offices.
Recall that Governor Alia has reportedly received more than N60B from federal allocations as well as from other sources but investigation by Nigerian Concord indicates that there is nothing to show for all the monies.
The governor had also said that he has been paying salaries with the Internally Generated Revenues but findings show that all his expensive trips, special day celebrations and other frivolous spendings are being funded from the federal allocations and palliative funds he got from the federal government.
Apart from Alia, Rufai Oseni also indicted the governors of Lagos, Adamawa, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Enugu, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kebbi and Kogi states to have spent more than N600B if put together in the last few months.
Despite the hardship and non payment of workers salaries since he assumed duties in Benue, Governor Alia has been spending public funds lavishly without any record. He has also been duplicating and inflating road contracts that were awarded to companies that belong to his cronies.
According to investigation, most of the contracts had been fully paid for by Governor Alia but no work is going well on.
