The Bishop of Akoko Diocese, the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Reverend Jacob O. B. Bada Chief Livingstone Akaninwo has described late Oba Oladunjoye Fajana, the Ajana Afa of Okeagbe Akoko in Ondo State as God fearing, honest, caring and a peace maker.
Bada dropped the hint at the weekend during his sermon at the final burial and thanksgiving service held at St. George’s Anglican Church, Okeagbe Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko North West Local government area of Ondo state.
According to him, God raised up Oba Oladunjoye fajana as a reformer in Okeagbe like Hezekiah, kings of Judah in the Bible, King Hezekiah knew God, Oba Fajana knew God too, he will never revenge whatever bad things they did to him, he always ready to forgive and we should have virtues too.
Bishop Bada said the monarch lived an exemplary life while on earth saying that he was not just a leader but a wonderful leader, intelligent, humble and peace loving monarch.
It would be recalled that late Oba Oladunjoye Fajana PhD was the first Senior Prefect of Ajuwa Grammar School, Okeagbe Akoko and a Frst Class Monarch in Okeagbe. He served at the World Bank for nine years before joining the African Development Bank. As a brilliant person, Oba Fajana had extensive professional and managerial experience scanning across academia, government, consultancy and international services.
The Clergyman noted that late Oba Fajana was a man of God and felicitate with the people of Okeagbe for their commitment to peace. There is no record of conflict despite four communities in Okeagbe. Okeagbe has taught other towns and villages in the state particularly Nigeria on how to maintain peace.
“A good Piano with a good Organist will not produce bad music. Let the templates that being used in Okeagbe go round the country as so ensure people in Nigeria.
Bishop Bada however said since human beings do not know the appointed time to die, it is imperative that while on earth man should obey God’s commandment and his word.
The man of God therefore admonished Christians who think the world is the end of their journey that death is rather the beginning of man’s spiritual journey and all those who hope in God will be called upon to give account of him or herself while on earth.
The Bible reading was taken from Revelation 21:1-8.There were congregational Hymns, prayer for the family, reading of biography and short speeches by relations. Other highlights of the event was tribute from brothers, uncles and cousins and the children.
