Akume, Alia in fresh wars over exclusion of SGF’s nominees from Caretaker Committee

Another round of crisis has hit the Benue state chapter of the All Progressive Congress as the governor of the state, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia removed names of all the nominees sent to him by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume for local government caretaker committee.

Recall that Governor Alia had yesterday released the names of members of the caretaker committee for all the twenty three local government areas of the state.

Checks by this newspaper revealed that the list of Senator Akume’s nominees taken to Governor Alia was rejected by the governor who reportedly said that no one can dictate to him on the constitution of the local government caretaker committee in a state he governs.

Sources at the Benue State Government House told our reporter that Alia was initially considering the list of nominees by Senator Akume but was advised by members of his kitchen cabinet against appointing the SGF’s men into power at this critical and delicate stage of his administration.

The governor’s men told him that appointing Akume’s men as members of local government caretaker committee at this time would endanger his administration and also make it difficult for him to further cut the influence of the SGF on the state.

Alia was however told to build his own foot soldiers for the battle ahead by empowering them through the caretaker committee of Benue state local government administration.

Meanwhile, the SGF has sworn to unseat Alia by all means for stopping his nominees from being appointed as members of the newly-constituted local government caretaker committee.
