Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Thank You Tour yesterday arrived in Jemgbagh, comprising Gboko, Buruku and Tarka Local Government Areas.
The timing was interesting.
According to BudgIT’s FAAC data, these three local governments received N11.39 billion between January and June 2026 alone:
• Gboko – N4.76 billion
• Buruku – N3.74 billion
• Tarka – N2.89 billion
Gboko for example, receives a monthly federal allocation of N827,617,344.79 (N827. 6 million).
Using the same average inflow, the three local governments of Jemgbagh received approximately N72.15 billion in FAAC allocations between May 2023 and June 2026.
That is seventy-two billion naira!
Not seventy-two million.
Not seven billion.
Seventy-two billion naira.
With that kind of money, the people naturally expected to be welcoming a governor on a Project Commissioning Tour: cutting ribbons on completed roads, hospitals, schools, water schemes and other landmark projects.
Instead, they were being invited to another round of “town hall meeting.”
The Thank You Tour is the project.
Because after three years and over N72 billion in allocations to the three local governments, the most visible thing moving across Jemgbagh appears to be a motorcade bearing monikers of “gratitude”.
Of course, N72.15 billion in the kitty of government calls for “thank you.”
