Exposed: How Alia stole N16B from padded wage bill in eight months

Facts have emerged on how the governor of Benue state, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia looted the state treasury to the tune of N16B billion in the last eight months.

The looted N16B billion was from the state wage bills that had been padded between June, 2023 and January, 2024.

Concord Newspaper however indicated that the monthly wage bill of the state under the immediate past governor of the state, Samuel Ortom PhD was inflated by the Alia-led administration with N2B despite that new workers weren’t recruited.

Two different documents which were reliably obtained from the Benue State Civil Service and the State Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs indicated that more than 30,000 fictitious names had been fraudulently included on the payrolls of the state government as well as the twenty three local government areas of the state.

This according to sources within the administration had paved way for the governor to divert about N16B billion to his personal use for the past eight months that wages had been paid since he assumed duties.
