That leader is Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN.  Kaase, a man of integrity, intellect, and proven capacity.

Aondoakaa is not a stranger to leadership. As Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, he served the nation with distinction, upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice was accessible and fair. His vast experience in public service has given him the wisdom and foresight to guide Benue State toward stability, growth, and prosperity.

As Principal Partner at M.K. Aondoakaa & Co., and former Junior Partner at J. Tine Tur & Co., he demonstrated strong leadership, accountability, and the ability to manage people and resources effectively, qualities that Benue urgently needs today.

A RECORD OF EXCELLENCE AND SERVICE

Aondoakaa’s academic journey, an LL.B (Hons.) from the University of Maiduguri and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, reflects his commitment to excellence and lifelong learning.

Beyond his education, his record of service speaks volumes. He has been part of numerous high-level national committees, including:

The Presidential Committee on the Sale of Aluminium Smelting Company of Nigeria to RUSAL Aluminium of Russia,

The Presidential Committee on Hydrocarbon Bitumen and Heavy Oil Exploitation, and

Chairmanship roles in the Ministerial Committee on the Review of the African Peer Review (APR) Country Report on Nigeria and the Reform of the Petroleum Trust Development Fund.

Through these roles, Aondoakaa has built a reputation for diligence, integrity, and a results-oriented approach to governance.

CHAMPION OF JUSTICE AND DEVELOPMENT

He has contributed to landmark legal cases, such as Grace Jack vs. University of Agriculture, Makurdi and Mbanengen Shande vs. The State, which have advanced justice and fairness in our society. He also played a crucial role in reviewing Nigeria’s Investment Laws, developing frameworks for public, private, partnerships, and ensuring Nigeria fulfills her obligations as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE

Aondoakaa’s dedication has earned him numerous honors, including:

Man of the Year 2007 – Catholic Diocese of Makurdi

African Meritorious Service Award (2008)

Nelson Mandela Gold Award for Leadership (2008)

Leadership Award – Clear Corporation UK (2009) for promoting Good Governance, the Rule of Law, and Democracy in Nigeria

He has also been elected to the Governing Council of the United Nations International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) and has represented Nigeria at global conferences across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
