Benue 2027: Aondoakaa’s gets backing of maternal home, receives heroic welcome

The maternal home of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the 2027 Benue State governorship election, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, on Saturday 30th May, 2026 honoured him following the conferment of the prestigious Tiv honorific title, “Ivaanyange i Tiv,” by the Tiv Traditional Council. The ceremony took place in Mbaazagee, Mbagen, Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.

Speaking at the event, the District Head of Mbaazagee, Tyoor Senenge Amusa Iwokwagh, acknowledged Chief Aondoakaa’s immense contributions to the Tiv nation, Benue State, and Nigeria at large. He expressed pride that the community had produced a son whose accomplishments continue to bring honour and recognition to his people, noting that the title was well deserved.

Speaking through Ortar Saater Kaainjo, the traditional ruler also commended Aondoakaa’s mother for raising a worthy and distinguished son whose achievements have continued to inspire pride within and beyond the Tiv nation.

In his response, Chief Aondoakaa expressed profound appreciation to the Tiv Traditional Council and the entire Mbaazagee community for the honour bestowed upon him. He solicited their continued prayers and support as he pursues his political journey, assuring them that he would return at a later date to formally brief them on his governorship ambition.

He further urged members of his maternal community to remain united and peaceful, assuring them of his unwavering commitment to their welfare and development.

In their goodwill messages, Hon. Timothy Manger, Elder Igbahemba Vehe, Elder Orakaa Aba, Hon. Ternenge Upev, and other speakers paid glowing tributes to the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, describing him as a worthy ambassador of the Tiv people and a leader whose service has positively impacted countless lives.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the symbolic dressing of the honouree in Tiv traditional attire, alongside the presentation of gifts by the Traditional Council and members of his maternal family.

Earlier, Chief Aondoakaa made a brief stop at his country home in Lessel, where he informed his immediate community in Mbashabu, Township Ward, Ushongo Local Government Area, of his affirmation as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flag bearer for the forthcoming Benue State gubernatorial election.

He thanked the community for its steadfast support over the years and encouraged members to remain united and committed as preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum.
