Akure Primrose Club yesterday gave scholarship to three indigent students to support their education pursuit in the year 2023.
The students who were given One Hundred Thousand Naira each are Master Boboye Kehinde Moses from Aquinas College Akure, David Oremeyi Anthonia from St. Louis Girls Grammar School Akure and Master Amire Oluwaferanmi Samuel from Aquinas College Akure.
Speaking while handling over the cheques to the students at the Inaugural Launch of Primrose Club held at The Dome yesterday, the Interim Chairman of the club, Mr. Kehinde Olateju said that the beneficiaries got the financial supports based on their academic excellence and recommendation from their respective schools.
Olateju however said that One Million Naira has been set aside by the club to support the education of Akure students this year. He added that the scholarship to indigent students will be an annual scheme.
Speaking about the club, the interim chairman said that Primrose Club is a socio-philanthropic club of men of over forty years friendship living in different countries around the world with close affinity to Akure.
He noted that the vision of the club is to give back within their capacity, promote educational development, create social empowerment, and support the needy.
Apart from the scholarship, the club also did the investiture of their Patton, Sir. Patrick Omotayo Adedapo Aisida.
Speaking after the investiture, Aisida thanked the state government for returning Aquinas College Akure back to the missionary.
He lauded the Club for the initiative especially the scholarship scheme for indigent students from various schools in Akure.
Aisida said the supports which the club has started to give education in Ondo state is a development which can never be forgotten in a hurry.
In their separate speeches, the state commissioner for information, Bamidele Ademola Olateju, minister of state for transport, Ademola Adegoroye, representative of the Deji of Akure, Chairman of the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Commissioner of the Diaspora Commission, Prince Boye Ologbese, Olujigba, Chief Luyi Rotimi, all lauded the Primrose Club for giving back to the society.
They urged other Nigerians living in the Diaspora to emulate the Akure Primrose Club to rebuild Nigeria.
They particular praised members of the club for deeming it fit to support secondary school students on their education.
