The People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate in the November 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, has identified his primary focus in improving lives in the state, if elected governor.

Speaking on Channels Television where he was guest on Friday, the former Deputy governor in Ondo state, said he will focus on the provision of the enabling infrastructure that will in no time, make it easy for the government to increase and solidify it’s financial base.

Ajayi who mentioned that his priority is to run the state, independent of federal allocation, said the initial period of his administration will focus more on the provision of the needed infrastructure that will drive the economy of the state, to the point of independence from federal allocation.

According to him, with the available infrastructure, his government can lift the state’s internally generated revenue to over 10 billion naira monthly from it’s present N3b.

Ajayi who maintained that not being in the same party with the central government will not affect his performance, submitted that he has the political will,to ensure a healthy collaboration with the federal government in the interest of the people of the state and the country at large.

” The good thing about this is that, President Bola Tinubu is a South Westerner, from Lagos. He understands the importance of Ondo state to a peaceful and economic growth of Lagos state. If Ondo state is not we’ll governed, Lagos will not be at rest,as well as the rest of the country.

” My government will decongest Lagos by providing the basic infrastructure in our coastal area to make this happen. It’s going to be a collaborative effort. We will do it together”

The PDP candidate dismissed insinuations that the rancour being witnessed within the party at the national level may affect his chances at the poll.

Insisting that he stands the best chance to win the November election, Ajayi said whatever rancour being witnessed within the party will ultimately strengthen it.

Politics, he maintained, is local and election is about the people, the locals. Since he is bidding to be governor of Ondo state and not Nigeria, no event outside of the state can negatively affect his chances, “especially , when the people are eagerly expectant. They know who Agbo is and knows what he is capable of doing. They are waiting to cast their votes for me because they know this effort is about the liberation of the state”
