The Nigeria Coalition for Justice and Peace has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately relief Mr..Pius Akutah of his position as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council for ignoring a presidential directive on the 2027 general elections.
The advocacy group in a press statement signed by its National Secretary, Mr. John Duke, Esq said that the fact that Akutah secretly obtained a governorship Nomination Forms from the All Progressive Congress when he didn’t resign from his federal appointment is a sign of insubordination to the president himself.
Also, the group stated that Akutah has committed an offence against the regulation of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC which mandated all appointees both at the state and federal levels who are seeking elective positions to resign from their respective offices before on March 31, 2026.
Apart from erring against INEC’s ultimatum, the advocacy group also noted that Akutah has also done against a directive of President Tinubu that all his appointees must resign by March 31.
Recall that Mr. Akutah has been in the news lately as a result of his scheming to buy the APC National Working Committee over to upload his name as the Benue State governorship candidate of the party in the next election.
The group stated that Akutah should be sacked immediately over his act of disrespect to the person and office of President Bola Tinubu.
According to the group, any attempt by President Bola Tinubu to further keep Akutah in his position as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council will mean that lawlessness and disregard to the law of the land lives within his administration.
“How will President Bola Tinubu explain to Nigrians why he has not sacked Akutah who failed to resign on March 31 but went and bought a nomination form secretly against his directive, and he is even making efforts up till this present moment for his name to be uploaded as the candidate of the APC despite that he didn’t partake in screening exercise and primaries of the party” the group stated..
The group also cautioned the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume not to bring wars into Benue State over his continued efforts to remove Governor Alia’s name and replace it with Pius Akutah as the APC Governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
