Nigerian Concord Newspaper can authoritatively report that the indoor meeting between the Tiv paramount ruler, Professor James Ayatse, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwadta and the member representing Makurdi/Guma, Hon. Dickson Tarkigir was about the party’s National Assembly candidates for the 2027 general elections.
Independent sources said that both Yilwatda and Tarkigir who arrived Makurdi at about 2:58 PM yesterday in a private jet with registration number 5N0BK were driven straight to the Tor Tiv’s palace in Gboko in two SUV with some police escorts.
At the meeting, the national chairman pleaded with Professor James Ayatse to use his position as a revered traditional ruler to prevail over president Bola Tinubu to allow the ruling party give all the serving National Assembly members from the state return tickets for the 2027 general elections.
According to Tarkigir, the meeting was initiated by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume who believes that the serving National Assembly members deserve to be treated fairly like their colleagues from other states.
In his response, the Tor Tiv agreed that he will meet President Bola Tinubu and prevail over him to allow the national assembly get a second term in office.
Recall that Benue Intelligence Watch yesterday raised an alarm over plans by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume to use the paramount ruler of Tiv, Professor James Ayatse to speak with President Bola Tinubu in order to alter the list of the Benue APC National Assembly candidates that were elected during the last direct primaries.
The advocacy group in a press statement signed by its Secretary, Comrade John Terkura said that on the order of the SGF, the National Chairman of the ruling party, Professor Nentawe Yilwadta and the member representing Makurdi/Guma at that House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dickson Tarkigir arrived the palace of the Tor Tiv in Gboko today to speak with him to prevail over president Bola Tinubu to give return tickets to serving members of the National Assembly from the state.
