Fresh facts have emerged on why a former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Emmanuel Jime abandoned critical activities of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Benue state.
This is coming just as the present senator representing Benue Northwest Senatorial Zone, Senator Titus Zam has started looking for an alternative platform for his reelection bid.
Sources said that Jime who openly expressed his displeasure with the way his political son and speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Alfred Berger was removed as Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Point man in Makurdi by the Governor has decided to go low in every critical activity of the party.
It was reliably gathered that the senatorial aspirant didn’t participate in the ongoing E-Registration exercise of the party. He also didn’t mobilize for the exercise which is aimed at mobilizing support for the success of the party in 2027.
Recall that Barrister Jime shunned the last Pre- dacamping dinner as well as the major stakeholders meeting of the All Progressive Congress held separately in Makurdi sometimes last year.
“That is his style, he will disappear anytime there is a major event in the party just because he doesn’t want to support financially but the moment such event is over, he will show his face again that he is contesting. Who is fooling who? How can we take that kind of aspirant serious at the expense of the people that are always seen mobilizing support for the party at every given time” one of the State Executive officers of the party told this newspaper.
“Why is Jime angry that Berger Alfred was removed as the governor’s Point man and replaced with Terhemen Tarzoor. Why is he angry over that. Is that enough reason for him to keep shunning critical events of the party he plans to use to be senator. It’s time for him to come out and explain to party members where he has been that made him not to support the party in the ongoing E-Registration which we plan to use to win reelection for both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth” the official continued.
Sources close to the former APC governorship candidate hinted that he is now looking for an alternative platform where he can contest the 2027 senatorial election for Benue Northwest.
According to findings, Jime has started consulting leaders of the African Democratic Congress in the state. He has reached out to Hon. Herman Hembe . He has also rekindled his relationship with former Rivers State governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi for the possibility of flying the party’s flag in the election..
In a related development, Senator Titus Zam has reportedly shunned the ongoing E-Registration because the structure of the Benue State chapter of All Progressive Congress seems to have fallen in the hands of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
According to findings, Senator Zam and other members of the political camp of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume became rattled with continuous pronouncement by national party officials that state governors are leaders of the party in their respective states.
Also, the recently released list of members of the APC National Convention Planning Committee where Governor Hyacinth Alia is the only person from Benue State has reportedly become a major concern to those who are opposing his leadership of the ruling party in the state.
“That Father Hyacinth Alia is the only person from Benue State on the National Convention Planning Committee list is a big blow on their faces and it simply means that the governor is the one that will present candidates for the party in the next election so I believe that is why Senator Titus Zam is now looking for an alternative platform to contest his reelection” another party source said.
