Nigerian Concord Newspaper
Nigerian Concord Newspaper can authoritatively report that the senator representing Benue Northwest Senatorial Zone, Mr. Titus Zam is planning empower his constituents with far less than N100 million despite taking over N1.2Billion from the federal government as the Constituency allowance for the senatorial zone.
This empowerment which his constituents described as ‘fraudulent’ will be taking place this Saturday which is three years after he was inaugurated as senator .
Even though, Senator Zam through his media handlers claimed to be empowering members of his senatorial zone with vehicles, motorcycles, and desktop computers with his personal funds, investigation by this newspaper showed that the claim is false as the items he is sharing to few people on Saturday were purchased from the kickbacks he got from the allocation of the North Central Development Commission.
Findings also showed that the items to be shared on Saturday were less than N100million even after taking over N1.2Billion as his Constituency allowance and another N2.5Billion kickbacks from the North Central Development Commission.
Recall that a previous report by this newspaper had exposed how Senator Zam got kickbacks from the allocation of the NCDC being the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the commission.
Analysts said that the people of the senatorial zone shouldn’t be deceived as the items with which they will be empowered on Saturday which is the first time since they elected Zam as their senator are their own money.
During our investigation, Benue For Good Governance told this newspaper that: “These are stuffs that he had collected over N1.2Billion for in the name of constituency allowances but he fraudulently diverted the funds to his personal use. Why is it that Senator Zam wants to empower his people for the first time since he was elected three years ago if not because of the forthcoming April primary elections of the All Progressive Congress.
“This is the same man who abandoned the people of Yelwata when they were attacked by fulani herdsmen last year. Till today, Senator Zam has not visited the place to give the victims any support.
“Senator Titus Zam should explain the whereabouts of the over N1.2BILLION he has collected from the Senate as the Constituency allowance for his people. He should also explain why he diverted the over N2.5billion he has secretly collected for the North Central Development Commission”
This newspaper also gathered that the people of Benue Northwest Senatorial Zone have vowed not to support the reelection bid of the embattled senator until he explains why he diverted a N250 million NANO loan which fraudulently used the names of some of his constituents to get from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
Recall that Senator Zam is facing a probe by the EFCC over the alleged stealing of N3.785billion during the time he held sway as the head of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs between 2015 and 2018.
