Nigerian Concord Newspaper
Nigerian Concord Newspaper can authoritatively report plans by some self-acclaimed stakeholders of the Benue state chapter of All Progressive Congress to stage a protest in Makurdi, the capital town of the state.
Credible sources told this newspaper that the protest which is planned for next week will involve students, transporters and traders from Benue state and neighboring Nasarawa, Taraba and Kogi states who will all disguise as bonafide indigenes of Benue state.
The planned protest according to sources will center around the ongoing insecurity in Sankera axis of the state which has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people.
During investigation, Nigerian Concord Newspaper confirmed that the planned protest which is a project of members of the political family of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume is fully being bankrolled by the Executive Director of Housing, Finance and Accounts, Federal Housing Authority, Hon. Matthias Byuan.
It was gathered that over N250 million has been spent so far to ensure the success of the protest where the protesters will call on President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council to sack the state governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia and then declare a State of Emergency in the state as a result of the ongoing security challenges in the state.
Recall that a call for a State of Emergency in Benue state was made last year but it went under the carpet as a result of the conflict resolution efforts of the traditional class in the state.
The fresh protest where a State of Emergency will be demanded by the protesters is a direct plot by members of Senator Akume political family who have alleged the Benue State chapter of the APC of using proxies to call for the sack of Akume as the SGF.
Meanwhile, a member representing Katsina Ala State Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Jonathan Agbidyeh who was recently arrested over his alleged involvement in the crimes in Sankera axis is in charge of mobilization of students and transporters from the three neighboring states to Makurdi for the protest.
Also, services of some social media influencers as well as men of conventional media have been sought for them to make serious news out of the planned protest.
