The chairman of the Benue State chapter of All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief Benjamin Omale has lauded President Bola Tinubu over the decision to establish a Military Base in Benue State.
Chief Omale also lauded Governor Hyacinth Alia for providing all the required logistics for the smooth operation of the Nigerian Army Base in the state
The Benue APC chairman who spoke to one of our journalists this afternoon via a telephone interview stated that the idea will further complement Governor Alia’s efforts to curb insecurity in the state.
Omale added that the President has demonstrated that he truly has the interest of Benue State in his heart by finding the state worthy of having a Military Base in the state.
According to him, it will serve as a strategic base for military operations to combat insecurity in the Middle Belt region and support emergency medical evacuations and humanitarian missions.
Omale further said that the decision by the Federal Government and the Nigerian Army to establish a military base in Benue State should be welcomed as a well-considered security measure and should not be politicized.
The APC chairman however condemned some people who were calling on the President and the military authorities to reverse the decision.
He stressed that such calls should be ignored for the sake of the pressing need to strengthen security in Benue State, noting that the idea is timely especially now that Benue communities continue to face security threats.
According to him, every genuine effort to improve the safety of lives and property deserves support of the people of Benue State.
Omale also urged the people of the State to back the initiative which he said has the potential to enhance peace, improve security coordination, and contribute to the overall development of Benue State and Nigeria.
