The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Oche Sunday Oche, has felicitated with the people of Ado Local Government Area and Nigerians across the country as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

In his Independence Day message, the Chairman described the anniversary as an important occasion to reflect on Nigeria’s journey as a nation and to renew the collective commitment to building a peaceful, united, prosperous and progressive country.

The Chairman acknowledged the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers and other patriots who contributed to the nation’s independence, noting that the responsibility of building a better Nigeria now rests on the collective efforts of present and future generations.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-centred governance and to implementing programmes that directly improve the lives and prospects of the people of Ado Local Government. He stated that his administration remains focused on strengthening security, supporting infrastructure development, promoting accessible healthcare, expanding opportunities for economic empowerment and investing in human capital development.

The Chairman particularly emphasised the importance of preparing young people for the opportunities and demands of the modern economy. He noted that education and youth development must extend beyond conventional classroom learning to include practical digital skills, technological knowledge and exposure to emerging fields that will shape the future.

In line with this vision, the Chairman called on students and young people across Ado Local Government to take full advantage of the free Digital Skills, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Training provided by the Ado Local Government Council.

The programme, designed for secondary school students across the five districts of Ado, provides practical exposure to areas including artificial intelligence, robotics and drones, basic computer applications, web and graphic design, and digital content creation.

The Chairman explained that the initiative represents a deliberate investment in the next generation and is designed to develop a digitally competent and technologically aware school-age population equipped with relevant skills for an increasingly technology-driven world.

He therefore encouraged parents, teachers, school authorities and community leaders to support eligible students and ensure that they take advantage of the opportunity. He stressed that early exposure to digital technology, artificial intelligence and robotics will give young people a stronger foundation for further education, entrepreneurship, employment and innovation.

The Chairman further reaffirmed his administration’s alignment with the development agenda of the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, PhD, and its support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, particularly in areas that promote human capital development, economic opportunity and improved living conditions for citizens.

He assured the people of Ado that his administration would continue to pursue practical policies and programmes that promote inclusive development, create opportunities for young people, strengthen communities and deliver tangible improvements in the lives of residents.

According to the Chairman, the future of Ado Local Government and Nigeria depends substantially on the quality of opportunities provided to the younger generation today. He therefore called on residents to remain committed to peace, unity, hard work, responsible citizenship and collective development.

He expressed optimism that sustained investment in people, education, technology, infrastructure and economic opportunities will enable Ado Local Government to make an even greater contribution to the development of Benue State and Nigeria.

On behalf of the Government and the good people of Ado Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Oche Sunday Oche wishes all Nigerians a peaceful, meaningful and joyous 66th Independence Anniversary.
