In a major boost for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Otukpo Local Government Area, critical stakeholders and their teeming supporters from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) have formally defected to the PDP.
Those who led the mass defection include:
– Hon. Adoga Edache alias Ebo – ADC
-Hon. Inalegwu Adakonye, Former LG Council Chairman – APC
– Mr. Emmanuel Akoche – Zenith Labour Party
– Mr. Garuba Sule – APC, Ugboju Icho
– Mr. John Ojonye, ADC Chairman, Ugboju Ehaji Ward, alongside several other ADC members and their supporters.
The decampees cited the sterling leadership of the PDP, its people-oriented ideology and its prospects for victory in the forthcoming elections as reasons for their decision to join the big umbrella.
Receiving them into the PDP fold were the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP, Dr. Oyije Ochaeikiti, the Otukpo Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Godwin Ochapa, Hon. Johnson Egli House of Assembly Candidate for Otukpo/Akpa. Hon. Gabriel Olofu, House of Assembly Candidate for Adoka/Ugboju, and the Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President, Rt. Hon. George Alli .
Speaking on behalf of the party, Dr. Oyije welcomed the new members and assured them of equal opportunities and full integration into all party activities. He described their coming as a testament to the growing acceptability of the PDP across Benue South.
The defectors pledged their total loyalty and commitment to work for the success of the PDP at all levels.
