Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party in Kunav yesterday reaffirmed their total and unalloyed loyalty to the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, PhD.
This came just as notable chieftains of the ruling All Progressive Congress defected to the People’s Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing bad governance in the state as a reason for their massive defection.
The events of pledging of loyalty by Kunav stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party and that of the defection of key APC chieftains took place yesterday when Chief Samuel Ortom, received them at his residence in Makurdi.
The delegation was led by the leader of Kunav PDP, Hon. Bemgba Chia, who said the visit was aimed at interacting with the former governor and strengthening the party’s unity ahead of future political engagements.
During the meeting, the stakeholders pledged their continued commitment to the PDP and expressed confidence in Chief Ortom’s leadership and contributions to the growth of the party in Benue State.
In a related development, Chief Ortom also received the PDP leader in Raav, Gwer West local government, Chief Godwin Uwua, who led a delegation of political figures, including APC chieftains Hon. Moses Mzahan, Hon. Ucha Agbadi, Hon. Clifford Zaki, and Hon. Aguchi Iorfaga, as they formally defected to the PDP.
The defectors announced their decision to join the PDP and pledged their support and loyalty to the party as well as to Chief Ortom. They cited their belief in the party’s vision and leadership as reasons for their move.
Speaking during the meeting, Chief Samuel Ortom welcomed the new members and assured them of fairness, inclusiveness, and equal treatment within the party. He urged all members to remain united and committed to strengthening the PDP across the state.
