The authority of the Jos Electricity Distribution PLC has announced that it would restore power back to Benue State before the end of today.
This announcement came hours after the timely intervention of the 2027 Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN .
Making the announcement this evening, JEDC stated that it has agreed to restore electricity supply by the end of today, October 24, 2026.
Recall that Aondoakaa today appealed to the management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED) to urgently consider the suffering of residents and take concrete steps towards restoring electricity supply.
Aondoakaa made the appeal during a telephone conversation with JED’s Manager in Makurdi, Mr Terlumun Agoh, following an attack on the company’s Makurdi office earlier this week.
Expressing concern over the hardship caused by the blackout, the PDP candidate stressed that the prolonged disruption of electricity supply is having serious consequences for households, traders, small businesses and the wider state economy, worsening the challenges faced by the people who depend on electricity for their daily activities and livelihoods.
He implored JED to explore all available options to facilitate the restoration of electricity, so that the people of Benue would not be left to endure prolonged hardship because of the actions of a few individuals.
Chief Aondoakaa once again sympathized with the affected staff of JED and the company’s management, emphasizing that the safety of electricity workers must be respected and protected.
Responding, Mr. Agoh thanked Aondoakaa for his concern and intervention, assuring the people of the state that JED remained committed to meeting their electricity needs in the best professional manner.
It will be recalled that the Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED) office in Makurdi was invaded on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, by a group of about 50 individuals. JED reported that the attackers assaulted workers, temporarily abducted 10 staff members, and seized four vehicles and technical tools.
