Bnue Anti Corruption Watch, has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately remove the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume from office for allegedly working against the backers of the president in Benue state.

Recall that Senator George Akume has been engaging the governor of his home state, Benue, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia in a serious leadership battle. While Akume claims he is the leader of the party in Benue state, the National Working Committee led by Umar Ganduje had proclaimed Alia as the leader of the party as a result of his position as the highest office holder at the state level.

Reacting to Akume’s plan to take some loyalists of Governor Alia that are projecting President Bola Tinubu in Benue state out of circulation, the president of the Benue State Anti Corruption Watch, Barrister John Tion Esq, said that the president should quickly remove the SGF “before he spoils his chances in 2027 with his selfish interest”.

According to Barrister Tion, there are records that Senator Akume is planning to contest the 2027 presidential election should in case Tinubu isn’t contesting as a result of his health condition.

He said the SGF had earlier approached Governor Alia to be giving him and his wife, Regina, a member of the House of Representatives some specific amount of money every month to enable him amass enough funds to sponsor his planned ambition in 2027.

Tion pressed further that it was when the governor refused to use the state funds to finance a plot which Akume is making against Tinubu that made him turned his back at the governor with a promise to clamp down everyone around him.

Specifically, the Benue Anti Corruption Watch condemned alleged plot by Senator Akume to use the EFCC to fight one Chief Livinus Tsar, an ally of Governor Alia.

Barrister John Tion Esq said that records before him indicated that some fictitious allegations had been arranged by the handlers of the SGF to rope Livinus Tsar who is one of those that Governor Alia is using to project President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027.

Tion said that the chairman of the Senate Committee on Anti Corruption and Financial Crimes, Senator Emmanuel Udende is using his rights over the EFCC to make Akume’s plot to arrest and clamp down Chief Tsar easy.

The group urged President Bola Tinubu to ask Senator George Akume why he wants to take over Benue state at all cost if not that he wants to hijack the state funds to run his presidential bid in 2027.

The group also wondered why Akume has failed to bring any meaningful projects to the state since he became the SGF. “All he does is to fight those that are bringing development to the state. He should be asked why he is making such devilish plan against President Tinubu” Tion said.
