The entire Katsina Ala bubbled up as the late Ter Katsina Ala, HRH Fezanga Wombo was buried today.
The late Ter Katsina Ala was the father of the present member of the House of Representatives representing Logo/Ukum/Katsina Ala Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Solomon Wombo.
Speaking at the ceremony which held at Akume Atongo Stadium in Katsina Ala, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume who was represented by Senator Jack T. Gyado explained how peaceful Sankera was as a result of a spirited efforts by the late monarch.
Appealing to those who have taken arms to sheath their sword immediately, the SGF commiserated with Sankera community for the loss of their father, and prayed that God will grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Pledging the Federal Government’s support to ensure peace in Benue and development, Akume condoled with the Wombo family over the death of their head and the people of Katsina -ala.
Also speaking, the governor of Benue state, Mr. Hyacinth Alia described the deceased as a peace loving man who all through his reigns was seeking for peace and security in the entire Sankera Axis.
The governor commended the late monarch for his roles in the development of Katsina Ala. He added that the late Ter Katsina Ala was supportive to his administration till he passed on.
He however called on all sons of Sankera political bloc to converge for a meeting to ensure lasting peace returned to the area.
According to him both serving and former Senators, House of Representatives Members as well as other prominent sons in Sankera have been urged to convene an emergency meeting tomorrow Sunday 12 January to proffer lasting solutions to the insecurity situation in the area and forward the same to him for immediate implementation.
He directed the abductors of the Caretaker committee chairman of Ukum Local Government Council, Reverend Gideon Haanongon and three others to release them with immediate effect, pointing out that the Government was ready to engage them to be useful in the society, if they refrain from criminal activities.
The Governor also urged the traditional leaders in the axis to do the same, pointing out that his administration was determined to ensure that peace returns not only to Logo, Ukum and Katsina-Ala Local Government Areas but to the entire state.
Governor Alia condoled the family of Chief Wombo over the demise of their father and urged them to be consoled in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life.
In his own speech, the Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Emmanuel Udende expressed profound gratitude to the late monarch whom he described as his primary school teacher. He prayed to God to give his family the required strength to carry on after him.
Udende was thankful for the fatherly roles the late Wombo played in his life which he said enabled him tocomplete his education at the time his own father died.
On his part a former governor of Benue State, Dr. Gabriel Suswam eulogized late Wombo for playing a key role in the development of Sankera and the entire Benue state.
Suswam recalled the roles which the late monarch played in the life of his administration when he was governor between 2007 and 2015. He said the late Wombo was a man of positivity.
He called on all Benue sons of the Sankera axis to ensure peace and unity returned to the axis.
Suswam said it was time the sankera axis was sanitised from all forms of criminality for people to exercise their fundamental human rights of free movement from one place to another.
The senator also said the axis was well known to be the food hub of the state and needed peace to prevail for farm produce to be transported or important and export services to enhance the state and nations GDP.
In his condolence message the Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, His Lordship Most Reverend Isaac Dugu appealed to the governor of Benue State to invite critical stakeholders of Sankera for a serious security meeting towards ending insecurity in the area.
He called on the citizens to intensify prayers for the state, the governor and the sankera axis.
In his remarks the son of the deceased,Hon Prince Solomon Wombo ,member,House of Representatives, Katsina-Aka,Ukum and Logo Federal Constituency thanked all dignitaries who had found time to honour his father’s burial.
He appealed for peace in the constituency as in the federal level they would ensure peace reigns in the axis.
