The governor of Benue state, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia has directed the Benue State Urban Development Board to demolish structures that are owned by members of the Benue State National Assembly Caucus.
This move which has started with the marking of the Club Complex of the member representing Makurdi/Guma, Dickson Tarkighir in Makurdi for demolition is not unconnected to the leadership tussle between the governor and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
According to a memo obtained by this newspaper, the governor personally asked the Benue State Urban Development Board to demolish the Makurdi club house of the Makurdi/Guma representative for being sited in an authorized location with immediate effect.
The governor has also directed the Board to revoked the Certificate of Occupancy of City Bay owned by another member of the Senator George Akume political family, Dr. Austin Asema Achado PhD.
Information gathered by this newspaper indicated that properties that belong to other members of the Benue APC National Assembly Caucus like Senator Titus Zam, Hon. Philip Agbese and others in Makurdi and its environs won’t be spared by the governor who had been advised to use force to take control of the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress.
According to findings, the governor will declare that all the properties of his perceived enemies among the National Assembly members were illegally sited in order to force them to abandon the SGF and return to his camp.
Recall that Governor Alia at the weekend accused some federal lawmakers from Benue state of encouraging Fulani herdsmen killings of innocent people in the state.
Governor Alia who made the accusation in a viral video which emanated after his meeting with a group from Guma local government claimed that he has a security report that some members of the National Assembly wrote a secret letter in his name and gave it to the Fulani in the North all the way to the Niger border that they should come back and graze in Benue, claiming that there is no problem again.
The governor said the members of the National Assembly who wrote the letter did that in other to discredit his government. He indirectly mentioned the senator representing Benue Northwest, Titus Zam as the leader of the lawmakers who invited the killers into Benue state through the said letter.
Saying that he is not a child that anyone can shake, Governor Alia threatened to deal with the writers of the letter if they don’t desist from blackmailing him.
