Benue LG Petitions: Plots to hijack Appeal proceedings unraveled

Nigerian Concord Newspaper

Nigerian Concord can authoritatively report plans by some Benue born Abuja-based politicians to hijack the proceeding of the Appeal Court in the case of the last local government elections.

Recall that the Local Government Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the NBA House in Abuja had two weeks ago ruled, giving nine local governments to the Austin Agada-led faction of the Benue State chapter of the All Progressive Congress.

The Tribunal also ruled and gave fourteen local governments to the Benjamin Omale-led Unity Caretaker Committee of the Benue State APC.

Meanwhile, a credible source within the party reliably informed this newspaper that some politicians loyal to Senator George Akume have started talking to some judges in Abuja to help them manipulate the Appeal Court judges to uphold the Tribunal judgements in the case of the nine local governments in the possession of Austin Agada-led faction.

They are also begging that the Appeal Court judges should also upturn the victory of the Omale-led Unity Caretaker Committee victories in the fourteen local governments which the Tribunal has earlier ruled in their favour.
