Former APC chieftain and leading contender for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency seat, Hon. Amb. Lilian Adoyi-Ofiebor, has formally defected to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
In a statement released to the people of Otukpo and Ohimini in the early hours of Monday, the hospitality industry expert, Hon. Lilian said the decision followed deep reflection on the political realities of the constituency.
She stated that the PDP’s values, grassroots orientation, and respect for the sanctity of the ballot align squarely with her convictions on service, inclusive governance, and purposeful representation.
Citing Article 21 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and Abraham Lincoln’s definition of democracy as “government of the people, by the people, and for the people,” she stressed that the will of the people must remain the bedrock of everybody’s political aspiration.
Hon. Lilian also reaffirmed her commitment to the zoning arrangement between Otukpo and Ohimini, describing it as a sacred covenant of fairness, equity, and unity. She declared unequivocally that it is the turn of Ohimini Local Government Area to produce the next member to represent the constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.
She emphasized that her aspiration is not about personal ambition, but about equity, inclusion, and purposeful leadership that ensures every community in the constituency is seen, heard, and feels valued.
Hon. Adoyi-Ofiebor appreciated stakeholders for their support, prayers, and encouragement, and pledged to work with all groups to usher in an era defined by accessibility, fairness, integrity, and purposeful service.
As at the time of filing this report, it is not yet confirmed whether Amb. Lilian will fly the PDP flag for the House of Representatives, Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, in the 2027 general elections. However, strong indications within the party suggest she is well positioned to emerge as the PDP candidate in the coming days.
