Benue Rebirth Movement, BRM, has unraveled plans by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume to ridicule the government of Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state.
The group in a press statement signed by its Director-General, Chief Terna Michael this evening also said that all the Benue members of the National Assembly led by Senator Titus Zam and federal appointees loyal to the former governor have contracted some pressure groups to attack the governor on the social media. “They have contributed a lot of money to execute this plan” the statement noted.
According to Benue Rebirth Movement, the “so-called” Benue APC stakeholders are still nursing the wounds they sustained as a result of Senator George Akume’s failure to take control over the structure of the party in the state.
The group said that the former governor according to findings is doing everything to ridicule Alia before President Bola Tinubu and also make him look incompetent.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu recently instructed the SGF to look for a way to make peace with the governor as a result of his plan to win Benue state during his presidencial re-election bid in 2027.
According to insiders, Tinubu while addressing Akume over the Benue APC Crisis made it clear that he wouldn’t want to risk losing Alia to another party as the crisis continues.
The group said: “Some fake union leaders and sponsored civil servants have been grouped by the SGF and his men to perform open protests against the administration of Father Hyacinth Alia.
“Also, a political merchant who stays in far away United States, Professor Pita Agbese has been contracted by the SGF to commence media attacks against the governor just like they did to previous administrations.
“Above all, they are planning to create a high degree of insecurity in the state by hiding under the farmers/herders clashes. Information indicates that they want to use that to call for a State of Emergency in Benue state”
“We are now calling on the public, federal government, the APC National Working Committee and security agencies to be aware of their plans to sponsor massive protests which may lead to insecurity in Benue state”
