The Chairman of the Benue State All Progressive Congress Unity Caretaker Committee, Chief Benjamin Omale has added his voice to the ongoing condemnation by the enemies of Benue state to drag the National Assembly into the leadership tussle in the state.
Benjamin Omale was reacting to calls by those he described as enemies of the State that the House of Representatives should take over legislative duties of the Benue State House of Assembly as a result of the suspension of thirteen members of the House over insubordination.
In a press statement he signed and sent to journalists in this morning, Chief Omale said that the Nigeria’s security agencies should quickly investigate an allegation from Benue Defenders of Democracy that a faction of the party in Benue state in conjunction with some Abuja-based politicians to cause constitutional crisis in Benue state by forcing the House of Representatives to do what is lawless.
According to him, another allegation that the same enemies of Benue state have organized a massive protest at the gates of the National Assembly next week to protest against Father Hyacinth Alia should be investigated.
Omale said this protest which they want to use to sell their points to the world that the State House of Assembly is unsafe and also that the people of Benue state do not want Father Hyacinth Alia as their governor again is not real but a sponsored one by those fighting the governor over the leadership tussle in the party at the state level.
Omale pressed further that the House of Assembly is safe and there is no security threats so there is no need for anyone to be calling on the House of Representatives to come and take over legislative duties.
On the allegation that members of the Appeal Panel sitting on the Benue local governments election appeal have been bribed to compromise the process, Chief Omale stated the the party will do everything to stop further manipulation which can lead to judicial rascality in Benue.
He however called on the National Judicial Council, NJC to wade in and investigate the allegations to be sure that the members of the Appeal Panel are still fit to preside over the case.
