Nigerian Concord Newspaper can authoritatively report that the Benue State chapter of All Progressive Congress has started building political soldiers against the governor of the state, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia over what is termed an irreconcilable rift with the party and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
According to findings, a group of Senator George Akume’s loyalists which will be unveiled before the end of the month has been assigned to recruit stakeholders that will make the public to be aware of the failure of the governor’s administration.
The group will also tackle most of the governor’s policies that are considered wicked to the people of Benue state.
Led by the senator representing Benue Northwest Senatorial Zone, Mr. Titus Zam, the group will block the governor from having any influence on the party in the state.
Part of the duties of the group is to ensure that any aspirant that the governor endorses for the Guma State Assembly bye-election is not accepted by the party.
Just yesterday, Senator Zam while receiving few APC chieftains from Zone B after his interface with APC members in Gwer West and Makurdi accused Governor Alia of fighting the Benue State chapter of All Progressive Congress led by Comrade Austin Agada because the party’s stakeholders have been asking him questions about his lopsided appointments and other matters that affect the state under his administration.
Zam was quoted as saying that he would do everything stop the governor from gaining relevance in the politics of Benue state for showing a total disloyalty to Senator Akume and those that worked assiduously to ensured that he became the governor.
The senator also told the leaders that all the corrupt officials under Governor Alia will be reported to anti graft agencies for interrogation and prosecution.
Recall that one Orwough Maurice was reported this afternoon to have been endorsed by Governor Alia as the party’s consensus candidate for the election but the party chairman in Guma local government, Lazarus Asema who is one of the members of the group immediately issued a statement where he condemned the arrangement.
Although, Asema thanked Governor Alia for the arrangement, he said the arrangement won’t stand as the party is prepared to do a primary election which will accommodate all the aspirants that have shown interests in the election.
Recall that some members of the National Assembly from Benue state recently held a press conference where they accused the governor of mismanaging public funds. They called out the governor for giving no regard to the party and her leader, Senator George Akume.
Also, the deputy spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Hon Philip Agbese recently had a media engagement with newsmen in Makurdi where he tongue-lashed Governor Alia. He said the governor has failed the people of the state in terms of development.
Agbese was also caught in a video which went viral three days ago where he stated that Governor Alia is fighting both President Bola Tinubu and SGF George Akume no good reason.
He said the governor is fighting them because his ministerial nominee, Emmanuel Jime was rejected. He wondered why the governor would nominate a ‘man’ (Jime) who had been rejected twice by the people of Benue state.
Agbese stated further that it was a pity that there is no one that can talk to or advise the governor again as he is putting himself above everyone in the state.
