The consensus governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State for the 2027 general election, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, has expressed optimism that the current challenges confronting Benue State can be overcome through unity, collective effort and purposeful leadership.
Chief Aondoakaa stated this on Wednesday in Katsina-Ala during the affirmation of Tyolumun Thomas Unongo as the PDP candidate for the 2027 Benue North-East Senatorial District election.
Addressing party faithful, the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation said the PDP remains the only credible platform capable of rescuing Benue State and restoring the hopes of the people. He stressed that overcoming the state’s current difficulties would require unity of purpose, resilience and genuine commitment from party members and the people of Benue.
He therefore charged members of the party to remain steadfast, united and committed towards securing victory for the PDP in the 2027 general elections.
Aondoakaa further urged the people of Sankera not to be swayed by politicians who, according to him, failed to attract meaningful development to the area. He maintained that the decision to support Kwande for both the governorship and senate positions was rooted in justice, equity and fairness.
He assured the people of Sankera that they would play strategic roles in his administration if elected governor in 2027, while urging PDP supporters across the state not to succumb to intimidation but remain focused and determined to reclaim the state.
Earlier in their remarks, the PDP State Deputy Chairman, Hon. Adzua Ashongo, and the PDP Vice Chairman for Zone A, Hon. Abraham Waroh, commended party members for the massive turnout at the party’s National Assembly primary election. They described Tyolumun Thomas Unongo as a capable and experienced young leader who would effectively represent the interests of Zone A if elected.
Also speaking at the event, Deacon Dan Abaagu on behalf of Sankera, Hon. Mrs. Veronica Gaji for Kwande, Elder Emmanuel Chiakor Bam for Jechira, as well as Hon. Mrs. Dorcas Iorver for Zone A women, all pledged their support for Tyolumun Thomas Unongo, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa and all PDP candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In his acceptance speech, Tyolumun Thomas Unongo expressed gratitude to the PDP family in Zone A for finding him worthy to fly the party’s flag in the senatorial election. He said the confidence reposed in him would inspire him to work tirelessly for both his victory and the overall success of the PDP in 2027.
Chairman of the three-man electoral panel for Zone A, Hon. Timothy Terlumun Ikyer, had earlier formally received Tyolumun Thomas Unongo from the PDP chairmen of the seven local government areas in the zone for affirmation.
