The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN has called for unity, courage, and collective resolve among Benue people to end the continued killings and displacement of innocent people in Sai are of Katsina Ala local government.
Aondoakaa made this statement on Sunday when be paid a condolence visit to the people of Sai in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, where he expressed deep sympathy over the persistent attacks on communities by terrorists.
The PDP governorship candidate stressed that only through genuine unity and a common purpose can the people effectively confront the menace of insecurity threatening their ancestral lands.
He urged the youths of Sai and Benue State to remain vigilant and security-conscious by working closely with lawful authorities and their communities while remaining peaceful and law-abiding. According to him, the fight against insecurity must not become an excuse for lawlessness, as discipline, vigilance, and togetherness are essential to defeating criminal elements.
Chief Aondoakaa also frowned on what he described as continuous attempts by the government of the day to intimidate Benue sons and daughters from sympathizing with victims of attacks or holding lawful gatherings. He said the action is alien to the values of Benue State and inconsistent with the principles of democracy, insisting that no government should suppress citizens who peacefully identify with their suffering brothers and sisters.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria stated that he believes in a society where brothers stand by one another irrespective of political affiliation, emphasizing that humanity, compassion, and the protection of lives must always take precedence over partisan interests.
In his welcome address, former Nigerian Ambassador to Argentina, Amb. Chive Kaave, appreciated Chief Aondoakaa for making time to visit despite threats and intimidation. He described the visit as a demonstration of courage, compassion, and selfless leadership.
In their separate remarks, representatives of the elders, women, and youths of Sankera unanimously commended Aondoakaa for his uncommon display of brotherhood, solidarity, and genuine concern for the victims. They thanked him for standing with the people in their moment of grief and prayed for God’s protection, wisdom, and strength as he continues to advocate for peace, justice, and security in Benue State.
Earlier, on his way to Sai, Chief Aondoakaa made a stop at NKST Church, Isako, where he was warmly received by the resident pastor, church elders, and the entire congregation.
Chief Aondoakaa was accompanied by the PDP Zonal Chairman for Benue North East, Hon. Abraham Waroh; the State Auditor of the party, Hon. Mrs. Vera Aku; House of Assembly candidates, Hon. Tyodoo Livinus and Evang. Brahms Tor-Ikuan, Barr. A.T. Kohol; among other party leaders and supporters.
