The Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has insisted that he would deliver good governance to the people of Benue State.
The Governor also warned against behaviors that would constitute distractions to his government, saying he has come primarily to fix the state.
He stated this Sunday, April 28, 2024 while speaking at a Thanksgiving Mass and Reception organized in his honour at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Tse-Agbersgba in Konshisha local government area.
Governor Alia, who insisted on transparency and accountability, said his administration is open to welcoming ideas and contributions from individuals that would advance the cause of good governance in the state.
The Governor continue that his intention was to assist young men and young women to gain financial independence through agriculture, calling on the youth to stay above anything that will lure them into acts that would constitute a hindrance to their growth and development.
Governor Alia who promised to offer employment to 36 graduates of science oriented courses who had earlier given their names to the Deputy Governor, called on Benue youth to embrace education in order to better their lives.
He also promised to construct Vandeikya – Kornya – Tse Agberagba – Gungur – Awajir road to ease the cost of transportation in the area.
Earlier in his sermon, Rev Fr. Barr. Isaiah Ter said thanksgiving is an application for more blessings, adding that Benue was in a tomb but God has sent someone to roll the stone away and set her free.
On his part, Sen. Barnabas Gemade declared his total support for Governor Alia and warned that any Jechira son or daughter who dares to indulge in anything against governor Alia’s administration will have themselves to blame.
Others who spoke at the event include the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, the Caretaker Chairman of Konshisha local government and Algon Chairman, Hon. Philip Achua, and the CPC Chairman, Alhaji Aseer Ihongo.
Others were the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon. Aondowase Kunde, Hon. Amende Ikyor, Chief Felicia Ngunan Hoyo, and Tor Jechira HRH Chief Clement Ugandan represented by Mue Ter Tiev, Chief Moses Asongo Adema
