Tiv Youth Assembly has given the governor of Benue state , Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia seven days ultimatum to name the National Assembly members who allegedly wrote a letter to Fulani herdsmen to come back to Benue.
In a press statement signed by its National president, Prince Najime Desmond, the Tiv Youth Assembly worldwide threatened that Governor Alia would face massive protests against his administration across the state of he fails to mention the accused names within seven days.
The statement reads: “We members of the Tiv Youth Assembly watched with total dismay a leaked audio in which our state governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia claimed he has a security report that some members of the National Assembly from the state wrote a letter to Fulani people in the North all the way to the Niger border to come back and graze in the state with the governors seal on it.
“That we find the claim in the video laughable because if the governor has no hidden agenda, he would not use such a forum to discuss such a serious security matter, and since he could not hold back but use such a forum to discuss such an important security issue, we call on him to as a matter of urgency name the said National Assembly members if he has nothing to hide so that the people of Benue will know her real enemies.
“Failure to do this we Tiv Youth Assembly will mobilize teaming Benue Youths after seven days to protest massively across the state against the governor as we shall assume that the rumors that made headlines during his campaign that he had agreed to bring back Fulani to the state after he was elected was nothing but the truth. We advice him to act fast to avoid embarrassment”
