As part of his efforts to develop the welfare of the Internally Displaced Persons , IDPs in Benue state, the state Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia has donated relief materials as well as financial supports to St. Athanasius Nursery and Primary School in Katsina-Ala.
St. Athanasius Nursery and Primary School was established by the Catholic Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Isaac Dugu, for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
According to reports, the humanitarian assistance to the school by Governor Hyacinth Alia was donated through the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management/Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Sir James Anodoakaa Iorpuu, fecdrmi, fcdai, ani, PhD, who visited the school alongside Bishop Dugu to oversee the distribution of relief materials.
During the visit, food and non-food items were donated to the children, ensuring their immediate nutritional and material needs are met.
In addition, Governor Alia provided financial support to facilitate the completion of a classroom block, further reinforcing his administration’s commitment to education and welfare for displaced populations in the state.
This intervention highlights Governor Alia’s dedication to improving the living conditions of IDPs and ensuring that vulnerable children have access to quality education despite their challenging circumstances.
The visit and donations were warmly received by the school authorities and students, who expressed deep gratitude for the Governor’s generosity and continued support.
