The Benue Peace Movement, BPM has cautioned the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume and members of his political family led by the senator representing Benue Northwest, Titus Zam, PhD to desist from any acts which may lead to break of law and order in the state.

The group also urged them to consider that the Governor of the State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia is the Chief Security officer of the state and his opinion about making the state peaceful should be respected.

The group which spoke through its Director of Press, Sebastine Shior in a live Video interview with selected journalists this night said that the “factional” meeting which Comrade Austin Agada held and tagged “Benue APC Stakeholders Meeting” today in Makurdi was enough to cause crisis in the state.

According to the group, Austin Agada should have exercised patience, and allow the Supreme Court as the Apex Court in the country to give a verdict in his favour before calling for such meeting in his official capacity as the party state chairman.

The group added that holding such meeting was criminal when there is a lawfully inaugurated Caretaker Committee (led by Chief Benjamin Omale) with a valid Stay of Execution against the last court judgment which returned him (Agada) back to office as the state chairman of the party few weeks ago.

The Benue Peace Movement said that Benue state is greater than one individual who may want to use some members of the National Assembly and federal government appointees from the state to foment trouble for his personal gains.

The group which called on President Bola Tinubu to call the Secretary of his government and the so-called Benue APC stakeholders to order also urged all the security chiefs in the country to be on the alert as plans may be ongoing to create tension in the state during this festive period

“This satanic plot to make Benue state unsecured and ungovernable must be curbed by the president and our security chiefs because all the speakers that spoke at the meeting which Comrade Austin Agada hosted today made no meaningful points other than their usual verbal attacks against Governor Alia.

The group however urged everyone in Benue state including members of Senator George Akume political family to join hands with Governor Hyacinth Alia in his development of the state.
