Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume said he will continue to help Benue people get to power as a result of the way the immediate past governor of the state, Chief Samuel Ortom PhD appreciated his kind gestures to him yesterday at his 63rd birthday celebration.

Senator George Akume made this known in his birthday message to Chief Samuel Ortom. The message was delivered by his representative, Dr. John Tor Tsuwa at the birthday lecture held at the International College of Technology, Makurdi yesterday.

Chief Samuel Ortom has on Tuesday said he would forever remain grateful to Senator George Akume for what God had used him to do in his life.

In his speech, Chief Ortom described the SGF as “my leader and mentor,” saying whatever heights he had attained, senator Akume was very instrumental to it.

But Akume in his birthday message to Chief Ortom said: “My journey with Adorogo has been highly historical and eventful. It is a journey that has spanned decades with leadership and followership burden.

“We have had good times, turbulence times and time of reconciliation, friendship and collaboration to secure our people and land.

“On this day of your birthday, I wish you good health of body and mind with a renewed zee to keep contributing to the consolidation of our democracy, growth of our nation and state.

“In the history of Benue State, I have helped a lot of people by the grace of God. Some have been good and others terrible. Because of people like Ortom who has recognized the burden of mentorship and leadership and are ready to embrace positive change, I will not stop helping and elevating people.

“May God bless and reward your good deeds as you look ahead to more better years ahead”
