Transparency Internation Nigeria has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to immediately probe the involvement of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume and the Presidential Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila in the multibillionaira scam involving the PFIPC’s self-acclaimed Director General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi.
According to the group in a press statement issued to journalists by its Director of Press, Chief Dele Arogundade, the allegation that the SGF was the one who personally called for an office space for the said agency within the Federal Secretariat in Abuja is weighty and should be investigated to a logical conclusion.
The group also recalled media reports that the SGF is saving funds to fight his state governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia and to also fund his planned 2031 presidential ambition.
The group also faulted a statement from the Presidency which tried to absolved Chief of Staff, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila of complicity, noting that the allegation that he took a whooping N400million from Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi for him to be given that fraudulent appointment is not something anyone can just wake u one morning and sweep under a carpet..
Recall that it was reported yesterday that some documents have shown that the SGF’s office processed and forwarded a request by the council’s self-acclaimed Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, seeking office accommodation from recovered Federal Government properties through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The report states that even though the Presidency has insisted that the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) never existed, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) received, acknowledged and acted on official correspondence submitted in the agency’s name months before it was publicly disowned.
The forwarding letter, dated November 21, 2024, was signed by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, on behalf of the SGF.
In the forwarding letter titled “Request for Office Accommodation,” the SGF informed the anti-graft agency that three government institutions had requested office accommodation from recovered Federal Government properties, specifically identifying PFIPC’s application by its reference number.
