Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth lormem Alia, has donated two 36-seater coaster buses to women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Mbera Sisters of Vandeikya Local Government Area to enhance their mobility and support women-focused political and social activities across the state.
Presenting the buses on Monday at the Government House, Makurdi, Governor Alia, represented by the Chairman of the APC in Benue State, Dr. Benjamin Omale, said the gesture aligns with the vision of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, aimed at empowering women and improving their participation in community and political engagements.
The Governor charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the buses by deploying them for transportation purposes, especially in mobilising and conveying women across different locations as part of efforts to strengthen the APC’s grassroots campaign and activities in the state ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Receiving the bus on behalf of APC women in Benue State, the State Women Leader of the party, Mrs. Helen Agaigbe, expressed gratitude to Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Governor Alia for their commitment to the welfare and empowerment of women.
She described the donation as a solution to the transportation challenges faced by APC women and noted that it marks the beginning of more benefits to come. She also prayed for God’s continued guidance and blessings upon Governor Alia, adding that the bus would be instrumental in mobilising women to welcome the First Lady during her visit to Benue State on Tuesday.
Also speaking, the former Director-General of Radio Benue and President-General of the Kunav Women Development Association, Mrs. Espie Ushe Uba, commended Governor Alia for extending the gesture to APC women and the Mbera Sisters.
She urged both groups to sustain their support for Governor Alia’s administration, which she said remains committed to improving the lives of Benue people, particularly women.
