Benue for Good Governance has condemned the Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse and the Ochidoma, Dr. John Elaigwu for being partisan ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that they can no longer be trusted that they will allow the forthcoming elections go on credibly.
The pressure group in a telephone interview granted to this newspaper by its Secretary, Dr. John Apine was reacting to the letter which was jointly written to President Bola Tinubu by the two monarchs over the control of the structure of All Progressive Congress in Benue state.
According to the group, the letter shows clearly that both traditional rulers have abandoned their duties to the people of Tiv and Idoma respectively by dambling into partisan politics.
In his words, the action of both Ayatse and Elaigwu is totally condemnable as such shouldn’t be traced to a respected traditional ruler
The group said that it is expected that the Tor Tiv and Ochidoma should be fathers to all Benue politicians as well as all political parties, stressing that it is clear that both traditional rulers have taken side with the All Progressive Congress with their letter to President Bola Tinubu.
“We condemn this act of partisanship by the Tor Tiv and Ochidoma, and the people of Benue State can no longer trust them to be objective during the next year’s elections.
“They should embrace all political parties so why are they backing APC. What is their business with the leadership tussle in the Benue APC. Why did they write President Bola Tinubu not to take the structure of the party from Governor Hyacinth Alia. Who told them that the structure is about to be taken away from the governor.
“We hereby call for a public apology from both monarchs because they have failed us. They have never written the federal government to assist Benue State in curbing insecurity but they are here writing to express their partisanship”
