Benue Advocacy Movement, BAM has accused the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume of fueling the crisis both within the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress and in the entire state because of his “inordinate” 2031 presidential ambition.
The president of the advocacy group, Barrister Joel Agada made the allegation during a brief telephone chat with Nigerian Concord Newspaper this afternoon.
During the chat, Agada stated that there are reports that governors of all the APC-controlled states in the North Central were compelled in 2023 to be paying some specific amounts of money to the SGF in order to fund his 2031 ambition.
According to the group, the refusal of the Governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia to make the monthly N200 billion payment to Senator Akume is the cause of the fight between him and his estranged political godfather immediately he assumed duties as governor in 2023.
It was gathered that the governor bluntly refused to be part of the monthly remittance for the 2031 presidential ambition of the former governor, saying that he was not elected to bankroll such ambition.
Furthermore, the group accused the SGF of betraying Benue State and Nigeria as a whole because of his desperate ambition to succeed President Bola Tinubu as president in 2031.
The group said that there is nothing bad in the SGF having an ambition to succeed President Bola Tinubu in 2031 but he should not nurse such ambition at the expense of the people of Benue State and the country as a whole.
The group also exposed plans by Senator George Akume to use some Abuja politicians to manipulate the forthcoming Ward, Local Government and State Congresses of the All Progressive Congress in Benue state for his selfish interest..
