Note: I am not holding a brief for Governor Alia or attacking his accusers but the journalist in me won’t let me rest since I was aware of how the deal was struck.
For weeks, one of the Social media boys that were engaged by Senator Gabriel Suswam to attack the administration of Chief Samuel Ortom, PhD for three and half years commenced what he called unveiling of facts within the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
I know Jerry very well, he isn’t fighting for the people of Benue State. He isn’t fighting because he saw anything wrong within the administration. He isn’t fighting because he saw some frauds in the hand of the governor. Jerry isn’t fighting because he is taking vengeance. He is working for someone who contracted him. He could have been working for Alia to attack the other camp if he was contracted before Byuan did. He once worked with me so I know what went wrong.
As for the documents, he has been posting, forget them. Most of them are fake just like they were being manufactured to discredit Chief Samuel Ortom between 2015 and 2018. What haven’t we seen in Benue?
As for the information and names he drops, forget them. Most of them are untrue. The same was done to attack Chief Samuel Ortom during his first three and half years in office. Between 2015 and 2018, Jerry would wake up and write that Chief Ortom had been arrested with $250,000 at JFK International Airport in New York whereas, the man was presiding over a Cabinet meeting in Makurdi at that same time. To brainwash the public, Jerry and Berger Alfred, the current Speaker would provide copies of the former governor’s flight tickets just to prove that the man who was right in Makurdi at that moment had been arrested with raw cash by the US Police.
For Jerry’s latest contract against the government, it was Mathias Byuan that engaged my little brother, Asom Jerry to be dropping names and information about the state government on the social media.
Luckily for Jerry, the little information that have leaked to him through some aggrieved members of the government especially those loyal to the former speaker, Dajoh Aondoana have helped him. This has made the public to believe many of his “Information nah water” that are even false to be true.
The fact is that immediately Byuan assumed duties in Abuja as the Executive Director, Housing, Finance & Accounts at the Federal Housing Authority last year, he invited Asom Jerry to come and work as his publicist. This must be as a result of his many damaging outings against Chief Ortom’s administration.
Byuan with a very strong ambition to succeed Father Alia needed a person with a first class experience in fabricating stories to attack members of the Benue State government including the governor himself ahead of his planned declaration for the 2027 governorship election.
As a matter of fact, one of my Nigerian Concord Newspaper reporters in Abuja was also invited to join the attack on the government but he declined to work with them further after my Editors in Lagos had sanctioned him twice for filing unverified news stories which were given to him by Byuan’s media team.
We made it clear to him that the newspaper management will not get him a lawyer by the time he starts facing cases of libel as a result of the huge funds he was being given by Matthias.
However, one cannot dismiss everything Jerry has said because he is also getting some genuine information from some members of the administration but, the fact remains that it was Byuan that engaged him to do the dirty job.
Jerry knows that I will post all the transaction receipts if he tries anything further. You can attack a government constructively but attacking a government or dropping names without facts or just because someone has engaged you to do so is what I won’t accept.
On the theft of gold and mineral resources, I found out that the allegation was untrue the moment Jerry couldn’t give me the details I demanded from him via a whatsaap message. He didn’t reply me till now.
However, I want to promise the public today that anything Jerry writes about the government as from now that are true, I will help him to promote it just the same way I will do the public a favour by countering whatever he tells about the same administration that are lies. This social media madness must stop. If Alia is bad, let him go by 2027, simple.
