The Chairman, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu, Chief (Dr) Benjamin Omale has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his Initiatives in transforming the health sector by the expansion and enrolment capacity in nursing and midwifery institutions and creation of community health worker across the country.
Omale who is also the chairman of the Benue State chapter of All Progressive Congress made this commendation at the 1st Matriculation and Capping Ceremony of the College of Nursing Sciences of the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Enugu
According to Omale, the Tinubu administration has established the National Health Fellows Programme in all the 774 L.G.As (one per local government area) engaged to drive primary health improvements, plus contributions to the expansion of Primary Health Centers in Nigeria.
He stated that the Digital Health, Data and Supply‑Chain Reforms is another major initiative of the health sector reform which has set a minimum EMR standards for hospitals, improve interoperability and digital health records.
His words: “Let us continue to work not as Departments, but as one team, unified by a shared goal with excellence in orthopaedics care for all. Let’s keep the patient at the center of everything we do.
“Thank you once again for your commitments. I am proud to stand with you, and Look forward to the great things we will achieve together”
He also congratulated all the students for whose attainments they were gathered at the event and the leadership of the College of Nursing and the Management and staff of NOHE for this initiative.
Speaking further, Chief Benjamin Omale said: “As a Board our role is to support you to ensure good corporate governance, strategic direction, and the provision of necessary resources you need to thrive. We are actively working on areas like funding, training, partnerships and improved infrastructures.
“However, we cannot do this alone, we rely on your insights, your front-line experiences to help us make informed decisions. I encourage open dialogue. If something is not working, please speak up. If you have ideas to improved services, share them.
“Together, we can shape a hospital culture that values transparency, accountability and mutual respect in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President and Commander-in-Chief of The Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Part of His ground breaking transformation and bold steps taken include, Fuel subsidy removal which has resulted in budget savings, economic transformation and investment in refining. Forex Unification which has increased transparency, investor confidence and better monetary policy. Investment Drive has led to potential job creation, infrastructure growth, improved global image and many other benefits to Nigerians”
Charging staff of the agency to continue on service delivery, Chief Omale said:
“We know the work you do is not easy, whether you are in the surgical theatre, the wards, the outpatient Clinic, Administration, or support services. The past months/years have brought challenges from patient overload to resource constraints, yet you have continued to show resilience, professionalism and compassion.
“At the same time we have seen major achievements – improved patient outcomes, national recognition, infrastructure upgrades and innovations in care. These are not just statistics, they are lives changed – thanks for your efforts.
“As a national orthopaedic center, we carry a responsibility not only to treat but to lead. To be a Centre of excellence, our vision is not just about bones and joints – it is about restoring mobility, dignity, and hope. Let us remember that every patient who walks out of here stronger is a testimony to that mission”
