Five prominent members of the People’s Democratic Party in Oda Ward Six today tendered their resignation from the party as a result of high-handedness, greed and manipulation from the leaders of the party in the Ward.
Leaders that left the People’s Democratic Party today are Aare Abiodun, a former House of Assembly Aspirant and Vice Chairmanship Candidate for Akure East LCDA, Mr. Omolade Folorusho, Vice Chairman of PDP Oda Ward Six, Mr. Igbadieye Omoniyi, Secretary, Mr. Tope Balogun, Youth Leader and Mr. Ajayi Sunday, ex-officio.
In their resignation letter which they tendered jointly today, the members complained about leadership failure among other excuses.
The letter which was addressed to the Caretaker chairman of the party in the Ward reads:
We, the undersigned leaders, members and Principal Officers of People’s Democratic Party in Oda Ward Six hereby tender our resignation letter as members of the party as from today, August 29, 2025.
Our decision to quit the party isn’t unconnected to the high-handedness, greed and manipulation from you and the former State Executive Officer of the party from the ward, Alhaji Abduganiyu Oludare Ogbera who has allowed himself to be used to turning the party in the Ward to a private property of a few individuals who claim that only their opinions should count in the party. Recall that, this same act had led to the resignation of prominent leaders of the party in the Ward like Hon. Niran Oladayiye, Hon. Gbenga Wande Bamidele, Mr. Dowole Isaac and many others in a space of six months but, we chose to stay because we thought you would change.
We had done everything possible to make the party leaders in Akure talk to these power-drunk individuals including you especially on the issue of the Ward Executive Officers which you people recently composed without the inputs of the majority but, to no avail. Names calling, threats to life, manipulations and lies have become the order of the day in Oda Ward Six of the People’s Democratic Party.
As a result of this, we have decided to stop being members of the party as from today, August 29, 2025.
While reacting to the development, Aare Abiodun Oluwarotimi stated that his life and that of his colleagues were seriously threatened at a reconciliation meeting held at Ijapo yesterday by a member of the House of Assembly representing Akure South Constituency One, Mr. Jide oguntodu who said that any attempt to change the Excos list he submitted to the party would result to a bloody crisis.
