Secret plots by the three senators from Benue state to call on the Senate to influence a State of Emergency in the state as a result of the unending killings in Sankera axis have been uncovered.
Benue Intelligence Watch, BIW, in a statement accused the trio of Senators Abba Moro, Titus Zam and Emmanuel Udende of working with some influential Benue politicians in Abuja to move a Motion on the Floor of the Senate where they will declare that Benue state will continue to be unsafe until an Emergency Rule is imposed by the federal government.
Speaking through its DG, Comrade Jude Alli, Benue Intelligence Watch said that the call for a State of Emergency is part of the plot to settle scores with Governor Hyacinth Alia over the leadership tussle between him and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
According to the private security group, a member of the House of Assembly in Benue state, Jonathan Agbidyeh who had been arrested and prosecuted twice over his alleged involvement in the crimes in Sankera axis is also assisting the three senators with detailed information about the ongoing massacres in the area.
Saying that the Sankera killings, kidnappings, rapes and maiming are political motivated by political actors, Benue Intelligence Watch urged the Nigerian Senate to reject the Motion when moved by the senators who have been mandated to do it.
The group asked the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio to use his good office to investigate the internal politics behind the crimes in Sankera.
The group continued that an Emergency Rule isn’t the solution to the crisis in the area since it’s just a plot to settle a political difference.
The group however advised the actors behind the proposed Motion to take the interest of the people of Benue state as their priority and forget any action that may further throw the entire state into crisis.
