The people of Mbagwa in Ushongo Local Government Area have declared the Peoples Democratic Party Governorship candidate Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa as their sole candidate for the 2027 Benue State governorship election.
The delegation, drawn from across the major political parties in Ushongo, was led by Elder Pharm. Ahenjir and comprised serving and aspiring State Assembly members, elder statesmen, former and serving Council Chairmen, political party chairmen, community leaders, youths and women.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Elder Pharm. Ahenjir said the decision reflects the collective resolve of the people of Mbagwa to rally behind Aondoakaa and support his aspiration irrespective of their different political affiliations.
The delegation described Aondoakaa as a son of the soil whose experience, exposure and understanding of the challenges confronting Benue position him to provide purposeful leadership for the state. They said no sane or true son of Mbagwa would go supporting other candidates when their son and brother is on the ballot.
They pledged their commitment to mobilising support for Aondoakaa across the wards and polling units of Mbagwa and Ushongo, while calling on their people to unite behind his candidature.
Responding, Chie Aondoakaa appreciated the people of Mbagwa for the confidence reposed in him, saying their endorsement would further strengthen his determination to work for a safer, more prosperous and united Benue.
Aondoakaa, however, urged the people of Mbagwa and, by extension, the entire people of Ushongo to extend the same support to Hon. Tyolumun Thomas Unongo, the PDP Senatorial Candidate for Benue North East Senatorial District.
He called on the people to support Unongo’s senatorial ambition, stressing the importance of having representatives at the National Assembly who can work with the next administration to attract meaningful development and opportunities to Benue.
The PDP governorship candidate reiterated his commitment to an issue-based campaign centred on security, agriculture, economic development, youth and women empowerment, job creation and the overall wellbeing of the people.
He urged the people of Mbagwa and Ushongo to remain united and peaceful throughout the political process, stressing that the future of Benue should be built on collective responsibility and a shared commitment to development.
