This newspaper can authoritatively report a looming massive defection of key members, stakeholders and lawmakers of the Benue State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC  ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

According to investigation, those that are warming up to dump the ruling All Progressive Congress are already meeting with the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party to finalize their official decamping.

This development will be following the defection of the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Thomas Dugeri who left the APC this afternoon.

Dugeri who cited the unending leadership crisis within the All Progressive Congress in Benue state today defected to the People’s Democratic Party.

While announcing his defection today, Dugeri called on the people of Benue State to throw their weight behind the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN

Meanwhile, this newspaper has gathered that more State Lawmakers under the platform of the All Progressive Congress are already making consultations on their planned defection to the People’s Democratic Party.

Apart from some state lawmakers , some appointees of the State government have also begun consultations with their supporters on how to move to the People’s Democratic Party.

Also, some key members and stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress have also begun plans to dump the ruling party and join the People’s Democratic party in the coming weeks.

Recall that there has been a cold war between the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume and Governor Hyacinth Alia over the control of the leadership of the ruling party.

The crisis between the two leaders started immediately Governor Hyacinth Alia was sworn-in as governor in 2023.

This crisis had led to two factions of the party in Benue state. While a faction led by Mr. Benjamin Omakolo was loyal to Governor Alia, another faction led by Comrade Austin Agada was loyal to the SGF.

However, both factions were dissolved in 2024 by the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress led by the former national chairman, Alhaji Umar Ganduje.

The Ganduje-led National Working immediately inagurated a seven-man Caretaker committee led by Chief Benjamin Omale.

Early this year, Omale emerged as the substantive state chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Benue state having being declared winner of the State Congress of the ruling party.
