In swift response to the herdsmen attack on 8th March 2025 in Dikpo, Mbagena, Michihe Council Ward, in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. Hon. Solomon Wombo, yesterday 9th March, 2025, accompanied by the Executive Chairman, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Hon. Shaku Justine Orangoholga and other members of the Local Government Executive Council carried out an on-site assessment of the situation.
The team visited Dikpo, the affected location of the attack, where they met with the families of the victims, youths, elders and stakeholders. During the visit, Hon. Wombo expressed his deep concern over the unfortunate incident and sympathized with the people over the death of their loved ones.
As part of on the spot assessment, the Prince of Peace engaged with youths, traditional rulers, and members of the clergy at NKST Church Abaji-Kpav to foster solutions and collaboration within the community. The leaders called for the formation of local vigilante groups to work together with state security outfits to strengthen security in the community and protect the lives of the people, and prevent the land from further attacks.
The Federal Lawmaker emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging all sectors of society to unite for the peace and security of Mbagena, Katsina-Ala, and Sankera at large.
He also stressed and commended the ongoing efforts of the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, to address the security challenges in Sankera and beyond, ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens in the state.
The Honorable Member immediately took action to bring succour to the people by settling the medical bills of those receiving treatment at Abaji Health Centre and also directed that the most critically injured victims be transferred to Katsina-Ala for further medical attention. He also gave financial support to the families that lost their loved ones to facilitate their burials.
Responding, the Executive Chairman, Katsina-Ala Local Government Council, Hon. Shaku appreciated Prince Solomon Wombo for identifying with the people of Michihe at this trying time, assuring him of his unalloyed support to ensure that peace returns to Katsina-Ala Local Government Area and Sankera at large.
Similarly, Chief Zaki Ordolough Ada, District Head, Michihe, also thanked Hon. Solomon Wombo for responding swiftly to the security situation of his subjects, praying God to bless him immensely as he continues to fine tune ways of bringing relative peace in the land.
The unprovoked attack claimed over 13 lives with 12 people in the hospital with various degrees of injuries, while 24 persons are still missing.
